Budapest, Hungary – The 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring delivered a spectacular race, with Oscar Piastri securing his first-ever Formula One victory in a dramatic finish. The McLaren driver led a one-two finish for the team, with Lando Norris coming in second and Lewis Hamilton rounding out the podium in third place.

The race began with a thrilling start as Piastri, Norris, and Max Verstappen went side-by-side into the first turn. Piastri managed to snatch the lead, while Verstappen went wide, allowing Norris to take second place. Piastri quickly built a three-second advantage over his teammate.

As the race progressed, team strategy played a crucial role. Norris pitted on lap 45, gaining a few seconds over Piastri. Despite building a significant lead, Norris was instructed by his team to let Piastri pass. In a show of team spirit, Norris obeyed the orders on the penultimate lap, allowing Piastri to take the win.

The battle for the final podium spot was equally intense. Hamilton, Verstappen, and Charles Leclerc engaged in a fierce contest. Hamilton’s early pit strategy paid off, securing him third place. Verstappen’s late-race lock-up allowed both Hamilton and Leclerc to pass, with Verstappen finishing fifth.

This victory marks a significant milestone for Piastri and McLaren, as it is their first one-two finish since the 2021 Italian Grand Prix. The team will be looking to build on this momentum as the season progresses.
