Inter Miami Bolsters Defense with Signing of David Martínez

In a strategic move to strengthen their backline, Inter Miami CF has announced the acquisition of Paraguayan international defender David Martínez on a one-year loan from Argentine club River Plate. The deal, which includes an option to make the transfer permanent, is set to run until July 2025.

Martínez, 26, brings a wealth of experience to the South Florida club, having made 118 senior appearances for River Plate and Defensa y Justicia. His impressive resume includes participation in prestigious South American competitions such as the Conmebol Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana. Additionally, Martínez has earned 11 caps for the Paraguayan national team, showcasing his defensive prowess on the international stage.

Inter Miami’s Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director, Chris Henderson, expressed his enthusiasm about the new signing: "We’re pleased to bring in defender David Martínez on loan from River Plate. David comes with experience at the highest levels, playing for both club and country, and is ready to contribute. This signing comes at a crucial time for Inter Miami, who are currently leading the MLS Supporters’ Shield race with 53 points. The addition of Martínez is expected to provide much-needed depth and stability to the defense, especially following the injury of Nicolás Freire.
